Tweet posted as a question, a tool for manipulation in the election campaign

Original title of the article: AFTER THE DEBATE ON SITEL, PENDAROVSKI HAS MISTAKEN THE VEHICLE – HE ENTERED THE VEHICLE OF SILJANOVSKA

On 14 April a disinformation appeared on some media which stated that the SDSM candidate for President, Pendarovski, was nervous and excited after the fierce debate in the show “Detector” on Sitel and has mistaken his vehicle. Namely, according to their findings, instead of entering the vehicle with which he came to the show, Pendarovski entered the vehicle of the oppositional candidate, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. All this stems from a seemingly joking tweet posted as a question.

Social media are often used as a source of “credible” information which afterwards are used to speculate and to manipulate the public. Such is the case which is the subject of this debunking, where one tweet taken over by a portal turns into a news of epic scope. Of course this is fake news because it was denied very quickly by the candidate for President, Stevo Pendarovski. The spin of a tweet posted as a question has been used to discredit one of the candidates. This is just one example how one tweet may become fake news with lightning speed.
